“Dance Monkey” by Tones And I makes its way to the record books in Australia, the ubiquitous song is reaching some massive milestones away from home.
“Dance Monkey” recorded 130 million broadcasts last month alone and has reached number 1 in seven countries, including Denmark, Ireland, Norway, Sweden and Australia’s Aria Single Chart where it has maintained its number 1 for seven consecutive weeks, a record mark.
It also ranked in the top ten in Austria, Hungary, and Switzerland and moved to number 3 in Germany, one of the five largest recorded music markets on the planet.
It is a similar story in the United States, the world’s largest music market, where “Dance Monkey” has hit number 15 on the Billboard Bubbling Under The Hot 100, which ranks the best songs that have not yet made it to the Billboard Hot 100.
The rest of the world is on board. When Apple Music and Shazam released their first “Discovery Top 50” album last month, “Dance Monkey” opened at number 3.
Now it’s at number 2, just below Maya Payne’s “Make up My Mind” and chasing a global number 1.
It has already reached the top of Shazam’s Global Top 200 list, beating Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello’s “Senorita”.
