Tampa Bay rapper Big Baby Scumbag dropped this month “Free Joe Exotic”

Big Baby came up in the same scene as rappers like XXXTentacion and Wifisfuneral, and he’s affiliated with Atlanta’s Awful Records, but his aesthetic diverges from both. The predominant sound of his work is throwback trap, 1017-style: organ swells, high-pitched synths, 808 bass designed to blow out car speakers. Big Baby’s profile is still relatively low, but he’s already hopped on instrumentals by heavyweights like Zaytoven and TM88, and last year’s Juvenile Hell mixtape was entirely produced by trap forefather Lex Luger.

Big Baby Scumbag dropped this month “Free Joe Exotic” dedicated to Netflix’s hit docuseries “Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness.”

The binge-worthy series tells the long and meandering tale about a failed murder plot involving Tampa’s Big Cat Rescue, and it’s main characters Joe Exotic—a renagade, Okalahoma zookeeper who was probably a sexual predator—and Big Cat Rescue founder and CEO Carole Baskin, who’s essentially accused of murdering her ex-husband Don Lewis in the film (Baskin vehemently denies the accusation).
